The Progzilla Files Episode 06 | The Lost Pink Floyd Album (2 August 2015)

In late 1974, Pink Floyd undertook a short tour of the UK. Their first set each night consisted of three new songs: Raving and Drooling (an early version of Sheep), You Gotta Be Crazy (an early version of Dogs) and Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

At this point SOYCD was 25 minutes in length and would later be split into two halves when it was recorded for the Wish You Were Here album in 1975.

That album initially was due to include Raving and Drooling and You Gotta Be Crazy but a change of plan saw these shelved (for now) and replaced by three newer songs.

Session outtakes and live performance tapes from 1974 give us a good idea of how an album with Raving and Drooling, You Gotta Be Crazy and a full-length Shine On You Crazy Diamond might sound. Digital editing allows us to recreate that album for The Progzilla Files. Shine on, indeed.
